Happy Halloween!!!

We were in California for Halloween with Brian's family. It is the first warm Halloween I have ever had. October in Washington is always beautiful but it never fails that when Halloween rolls around it is rainy and cold so it was a great change. It was nice enough that we decided to take Ryden and his cousin Michael who is 20 days younger than him to a couple houses.

Fabulous 4!!!!

Month Four has brought on a lot of change in our boy wonder! Everyday brings a new surprise or new noise, and he is more fun everyday to play with! It also has been a big change for our family, with me going back to work. Our mornings are a little more hectic with getting 3 people ready and out the door on time but so far I can report we are doing pretty good! It has also been an adjustment to have Ryden in someone else's care during the day but we feel blessed to have found a wonderful facility with wonderful, caring people. Luckily he has continued to show his easy going temperament and pretty much goes with the flow. His smile continues to warm me on these increasing cold fall days!

Milestones
  • Can roll tummy to back AND back to tummy.
  • Tracts objects and mommy/daddy everywhere they go!
  • Can hold a rattle and shake it.
  • Will spot a toy, and grab it. Has also started grabbing at our dinner plates, which makes it harder to eat with him on our laps=).
  • Can sit up when supported.
  • Has new noises/squeaks everyday.
  • Can bear all his weight on his legs when you hold him by the waist.
  • Height: 26 inches/85 percentile
  • Weight: 14 lbs 5 1/2 oz/ 39 percentile
  • Head: 42 cm/43 percentile
  • We think he is cutting his first tooth so we will keep you updated on this next month!

We have a roller!

I have a lot to blog about our recent trip to Cali and Ryden's first plane trip, but that will have to wait for another day this week. Just trying to recover from the vacation. I realized today I should have been recording video's on my still camera, we still need to purchase a video camera but I wanted to document Ryden's new trick! He is officially rolling. I have seen him roll from tummy to back but haven't caught him yet from back to belly. He started doing it this week but only in a stealth manner in the middle of the night. Which sure scared me to find him the first time in the middle of the night on his tummy. Today he finally decided to show off and I caught it on camera! It is amazing how things change so much in a week in the life of an infant. He is soooo active in the middle of the night. I lay him down with his head pointed north and wake up to find his head pointing south. As a parent you truly find so much excitement in the little accomplishments your child makes and before if someone told me their child just started to roll I wouldn't of understood. A new lens to see life!

A surprise visit from Uncle Chris!

Today Uncle Chris came down from Seattle and gave us a surprise visit. I can tell already Ryden and him are going to be close, Ryden had a fun time playing with him this afternoon and even showed off his new skill of rolling over. They were even dressed like twins today by chance so what better time for a uncle/nephew photo opp! Thanks for the visit Uncle!

1, 2.......3!!!!!!!

Time flies. I can't believe today our lil man is 3 months. With each day comes a new milestone and with each day he shares more of his awesome personality with us. Everyday I feel more blessed that he chose us to be his parents. Can't wait to see what surprises he gives us next month!
3 month milestones

  • Slept 10 hrs in a row, waking up once to eat, well that was the first half of the month. Now he is up every three hours, oh well, it was nice while it lasted.
  • Is quite the little social butterfly. Loves to talk too you and see what is going on around him.
  • Finally found his fingers, he has been trying, but can now suck on those fingers he has wanted so badly!
  • Grips toys that are put in front of him.
  • Loves to kick his little legs and they are powerful kicks!
  • Probably around 13 lbs and is quickly growing out of clothes.
  • Laughs and giggles, who knew that sound would instantly melt your heart!

Storytime

I hope Ryden will have a love for books as I do. One of my greatest memories was going to the library weekly with my own mother to fill up our little red basket with new stories to read. It is amazing how a book can suck you in and take you to far off places beyond the imagination. I hope this will be a ritual for us in the future, reading wonderful stories with my wonderful lil man before bed!
