A Day in the Life; 3 years later.

Here he is 3 years ago; still a mystery to his parents on the person he would become. We have learned so much about him since this July day in 2010.  Each day since our love for him has grown as well as the number of grey hairs on my head.
From when he wakes up in the morning until he reluctantly hits the sheets at night he wants to explore all life has to offer.  He is curious, energetic (is an understatement), loving, strong willed, a wonderful big brother and these days always testing the boundaries we are creating for him.

Favorite Foods:  Any fruit but never grows tired of strawberries, one week he ate 4 lbs!  Would eat bacon for every meal if we allowed it.  These days the vegetables he seems to love is either green beans or a salad with poppy seed dressing.  He still won't eat potatoes unless they are in fries.  Will only eat carrots that are raw but not when they are cooked.

Future career:  He says he would love to be a fireman!

Best friends:  His best friend and partner in crime is Oxley but other friends he loves to play with are Trace, Sadie, & Lydia.

Favorite color:  Blue

Favorite cartoons:  The Adventures of Chuck & Friends, Mickey Mouse, Jake & the Neverland Pirates, Fireman Sam or other OPB shows.

-Loves to run
-Favorite sports to play are baseball or soccer
-Doesn't like to be too cold or too hot
-Loves showers and baths
-Loves to help cook/bake in the kitchen
-Loves shoes
-Can dress himself and now can put on his shoes
-Is potty trained but still wearing a diaper at night
-Loves construction equipment and trucks.  Can pick out Nissans on the road.
-Very interested in bugs and loves to look at them.
-Can count to eleven
-Can identify all his letters
-Loves his one glass of watered down apple juice in the morning and could drink milk all day long if we let him.

Funny sayings

-At naptime or at night will always ask us, "Will you lay down with me one minute, will you close your eyes".
-  If we ask him why he did something he shouldn't have; this is his usual reply..."because I do that".
-When I pick him up from preschool he proudly tells me, "I had a good day".  Or at then end of the day before Daddy come home he will ask me, "Did I have a good day or bad day"?
-If we are going to the park he always asks, "Will there be boys there"?
-Talks a lot about Gpops (Bri's grandfather who passed this summer) and loves to work with the tools he inherited from him.

Dress up

...well not really dress up but the kind you do with little boys when they are small.  I look forward to putting B into some of my favorite outfits that R wore when he was little.  Today it was a rainy day so I decided to put B in a long-sleeved onesie I adore.

7 months

Seven months.
How are we here?!  Each month keeps flying by quicker than the previous one.  Two more teeth have invaded this cute boy's gummy smile.  Giving him a new look & mommy less sleep AGAIN.  This kid likes doing things on his own schedule; he is in no rush.  We are almost sitting unsupported but not yet. He gives smiles freely and will remain happy even when missing a nap.  He gives us so much Joy.

Sweet Six.

Well this kid is almost 7 1/2 months as I write this post so I thought I better get to it!  Seems like each day flies by quicker than the one the day before.  Always someone needs to have their diaper changed, helped wiped, needs to eat or stuff can always be cleaned.  I feel I am finding more of my grove though at this point having these two cute munckins.
Brennan finally graduated off the acid reflux medication!!!  This was a wonderful milestone.  Although he still spits up; he doesn't need a bib on 24/7 anymore!  He got his two bottom teeth the week he turned 6 months and teething doesn't seem to be bothering him as much as it did his older brother.  He has enjoyed any food I have tried with him & eats well.  He can roll but is most content just laying on the ground playing with his toys.  He is easy to make laugh or smile.  Doesn't mind anyone holding him.  Is now waking up about 2 times a night to feed.

Weight: 15 lbs 10.1 oz (17th percentile)
Height:  27" (72nd percentile)
HC:  43 cm (29th percentile)

We love you so much Brennie Boo.

Dozer Days

We had been anxiously awaiting this event for awhile.  R is really into construction vehicles these days and this is such a wonderful event put on by many local companies!  Although it rained again this year we had a great time!

Can you tell how excited I am to be here?

Doing what he loves; getting dirty!

Playing on the giant tires with daddy

I was shocked he wanted me to go on this with him instead of daddy; made me feel so good!

Garbage Day

Every Friday we are usually still in my bedroom with both boys snuggled into bed along with me.  Around 8 am we hear that familiar sound of the garbage man coming down the road.  At that moment R usually jumps out of bed in excitement and runs to our window to catch a glimpse of the garbage truck with its mechanical arm.  He watches in amazement as the robotic arm picks up the garbage can and shakes the garbage out then gently returns the can to the curb.
This week started what is supposed to be a warm spell.  I worry about having Lil Boo Bear out when it is so warm so I decided we should go on a morning walk and watch out for the garbage truck.  On our way to the "secret forest" (a place I set as a destination to make R really excited for our walk) we saw the garbage man pull into the neighborhood and R stood frozen watching one of his weekly highlights.
By the time we reached home the recycling truck was starting his rounds on our street.  R ran to the rock in our alley and quietly sat to watch it do his job.
This kid is 100 % boy.

Happy Birthday to me.

The day before my birthday was the tragic bombing at the Boston Marathon.  It seems so many horrific events have happened around my birthday throughout the years.  Virginia Tech, Oklahoma City, Columbine and now this.  A birthday already brings upon a moment of reflection for me and when something like this happens it intensifies that need to remember all that his good.  Yes, the lack of sleep I am getting sucks but I get to wake up to these sweet faces, a supportive & caring husband and great friends.  I got some fun gifts for my birthday but spending another year with the amazing people in my life is the greatest gift.
