Solo steps.

Last thursday I was at the park with a friend, we were sitting on a blanket and talking. All of a sudden R stands up without holding onto anything and took four steps. E & I looked at one another and started clapping for little man. He was so proud. Ever since then, he has been gaining more confidence with each stride. I have been trying numerous times this week to post other videos we have been taking daily of his progression. Unfortunately blogger hasn't been cooperating with me. We still primarily have a crawler on our hands but he is quickly moving towards walker. Here is a video of our soon to be solo walker this morning! Way to go R!

Strike a pose.

We had these photos taken on R's 1st birthday. It was a lot of work to get shots of our busy boy. Katie Terrill, the photographer was very patient in getting as many shots as we could. In the end all of the hard work paid off. These are a few of the shots we got that day.

13th month.

13th month. Wow. Wasn't his birthday yesterday??? In the last month one of the biggest events has been an unpleasant month of teething. Four new molars & two new canine teeth have been working their way annoyingly through little man's gums. Although to B's dismay we do not have a family dog yet but you would think we did by the amount of biting and chewing that has been going on. R has been biting on everything; furniture, toys, he loves to take off his socks & bite them and unfortunately me. We went up to Seattle a couple of weekends ago and a man asked me if I hurt myself on the jet ski. I looked at my arm covered in bruises and scabs & said, " no, that is from my child=)". Hopefully this won't last too much longer, it is not fun for any of us involved.

We still have a super crawler on our hands. I mean he is quick, really quick. This is one of the main reason we feel he is not too motivated to walk. Why walk slowly when he can get to anywhere lighting fast on all fours???

He has modified his crawl when we are on the backyard though. He doesn't like the feeling of the grass or rocks on his knees. So for the outdoors he does the bear crawl, which is really cute to watch.

Although he still prefers crawling, he has accomplished some solo steps, we are about up to 4 in a row. I think the big fuss we make over him when he does this has motivated to make him try more.

This kiddo also loves to climb, he has even figured out how to push things together to create stairs so he can climb onto other things.

Ever since R had the stomach flu right before his 1st birthday he has become a champion eater. He has eaten anything I have given him thus far; all veggies, all fruits, spicy food, cold food, hot food, as long as it is food he will eat it.

I hope to report we have a walker on our hand before the 14th month!

Big kid pool & a little fish.

It is fun to see what characteristics of your husband & yourself that you see in your child. This month R, at this point, has shown us two things about himself that both B & I both love. Water & food. Good thing the old wise tale that eating and then swimming is dangerous has been disproven! Today we finally had a day in the 80's so I took R to Auntie M & Uncle Danimal's house. At first R showed no facial expressions as we floated in the warm watery oasis. Then as he became more aware of his surroundings I started to see him kick his little feet & splash his hands. I will have to get this little man swimming lessons soon because when we took him out of the floaty he would try to get out of my arms! No water fear for this guy! He loves to put his face into the water and was content floating around.
