Big kid pool & a little fish.

It is fun to see what characteristics of your husband & yourself that you see in your child. This month R, at this point, has shown us two things about himself that both B & I both love. Water & food. Good thing the old wise tale that eating and then swimming is dangerous has been disproven! Today we finally had a day in the 80's so I took R to Auntie M & Uncle Danimal's house. At first R showed no facial expressions as we floated in the warm watery oasis. Then as he became more aware of his surroundings I started to see him kick his little feet & splash his hands. I will have to get this little man swimming lessons soon because when we took him out of the floaty he would try to get out of my arms! No water fear for this guy! He loves to put his face into the water and was content floating around.

Pool fun.

It was one of the few hot days yet this summer on sunday so we decided to break out the kiddie pool for R! We couldn't fill up the pool quick enough, this kid loves the water like his mom & dad. He kept crawling in and out of the pool! Can't wait to take him to the big pool!

The woodpecker & the walker.

Two handymen & a wood pecker.

Uncle C sent R the cutest woodpecker walker yesterday. B got home early enough to put it together. Little man was right by his dada's side as they assembled it. He loves it & so do we, it is absolutely perfect for R to practice his steps!

Garbage disposal

Now that R is off any sort of baby food/pureed vegetables he has been introduced to all sorts of new foods lately. He has become what I call a garbage disposal & will eat anything that is given to him. At times he also seems like a bottomless pit, we can't believe how much he can eat at times. I hope this is not just a phase & we are lucky not to have a picky eater on our hands but that might be wishful thinking??

B was craving steak on saturday night, so we decided to try a old Portland landmark. Sayler's Old Country Kitchen for dinner. It is an old school steak house, that kind of reminds me of The Old Spaghetti Factory in terms of a meal that comes with all the fixins. You get a relish tray, bread, soup, salad or coleslaw, your entree & starch, plus ice cream! Best of all it is a GREAT steak!

In the relish tray their was olive, dill pickles, & those little corn. R ate it all! No sour pucker here when I gave him the pickle, he loved it. I hope this is the start of a good eater who likes to eat everything like his dada! Only time will tell!

Ryden's rookie year celebrated!

We celebrated R's rookie year last weekend with close friends and family. It was a baseball extravaganza and it was a special day that we ( Brian & I), will never forget. We got lucky with perfect weather but since it was after the 4th of July when summer usually finally comes to the PNW we knew we had pretty good chances, but you never know up here as I look outside to gloomy skies right now! R did enjoy his day although I don't think he knew all the excitement was for him. It was a very surreal day knowing that one year prior, just after mid-night I met & held my precious angel for the first time. I will do another post about his first year but this is just about his big celebration. Thank you to all that came & made this day even more special for us. We feel blessed beyond belief everyday to have such amazing people surrounding us.
